Peter T Treadway has had a varied career as economist, educator, money manager and global strategist. Peter graduated from Fordham College with a degree in English. He then went on to get an MBA from NYU and then a PhD in economics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Over the years since leaving Wall Street in 2001, Peter has developed a special interest in Asia and technology. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the City University of Hong Kong and visiting professor at the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Peter has also presented a number of financial workshops in Southeast Asia. He is currently principal of Historical Analytics LLC, a firm dedicated to money management with a particular interest in the technology area and Asia. A regular blog entitled The Dismal Optimist is produced for clients and interested readers. In 2013 he co-authored a book, Investing in the Age of Sovereign Defaults, How to Preserve Your Wealth in the Coming Crisis. He has written two novels, the latest Coco’s Gambit.

From 1965-2000 Peter had a distinguished career on Wall Street and with major American financial institutions. From 1978-81 he served as Chief Economist at Fannie Mae. From 1985-1998 he served as institutional equity analyst and Managing Director at Smith Barney. He was ranked as “all star” analyst eleven times by Institutional Investor Magazine.

Currently a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida, covid virus permitting, he normally spends about half his time in Asia.
